Boosting Employee Engagement in Change

Situation

An external review recommended sweeping changes to procurement.

Staff had been through multiple changes in direction and leadership over recent years and were change-weary.

Solution

My reputation for bringing enthusiasm and initiative to change meant that I was asked to set up the new innovation and business improvement function.

After consultation, I set up a transparent, interactive easy-to-use system that all staff could access.

Within a few weeks, a number of staff suggestions for improvements were implemented to improve efficiency and reduce red tape.

Employees rapidly adopted the forum as the preferred way of discussing business issues and improvements.

This was so successful that I was asked to roll it out further across the whole government department.
